MB ChB Medicine

4.5-year Degree Programme

Derived from a well-established curriculum refined over the last 20 years, every aspect of the MB ChB programme has been designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to start their journey as Medical Practitioners. The course is divided into two comprehensive learning phases.

Phase 1

This phase consists of a series of integrated and inter-disciplinary units mostly based around the systems of the body and presented in a clinical context. By the end of Phase 1, students will be able to communicate effectively with patients, examine them clinically, and have sufficient understanding of how the body works in health and disease to embark on full-time clinical work.

Phase 2

This phase is about building on the foundations of Phase 1 through Intensive work with patients and doctors in a clinical environment. Over a series of themed blocks, students will be given a structured exposure to all the aspects of medicine in both the hospital and the community.

Program Highlights

  • As per the Buckingham ethos, the ratio of students to clinical teachers and patients is kept low, so that students have the best chance to Interact with a wide variety of patients and doctors.
  • The placements take place in hospitals and general practices.

Eligibility for students from India/Bangladesh/Nepal

  • Should have completed Higher Secondary/Grade 12 with a minimum overall score of 80% with no less than 75% in Chemistry and Biology
  • For those who do not meet the above criteria:
    • Entry requirements for Premed are A Levels: BBC (Inc. Biology or Chemistry) or IB:32 or equivalent.
    • Aspirants should take a 1-year course and achieve a min. of 70% to be eligible for participation in the admission interview (MMI) for the MB ChB programme.
